Quadring

Definition:
Quadrings are sealing elements that are used in some cases to substitute O-rings under working conditions that are somewhat demanding.

Functional advantages:
With respect to O-rings, Quadrings absorb part of the tighten stress due to the lobes opening up, which reduces their deformation stress against the contact sides. This way, the sealing effect is produced with a smaller contact surface. In dynamic applications, the friction stress generated is smaller, as it is directly proportional to the contact surface.

Applications:
Since the main advantages of Quadring are obvious in dynamic applications, their main used will be related to rods/pistons (alternating linear movement) or shafts (rotating movement).
